Newly Named Interim Speaker Orders Nancy Pelosi to Vacate Capitol Office

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Faces Office Relocation

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been instructed by GOP Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, the newly named interim speaker, to vacate her office in the Capitol building. While she still maintains her regular office in the Cannon House office building, Pelosi received an email from McHenry’s office requesting her to clear out her belongings from the space designated for the speaker’s use.

Unfortunate Timing for Pelosi

Pelosi, who was not in Washington, DC at the time, expressed her inability to immediately move her belongings in a statement. She was in California mourning the loss of her dear friend Dianne Feinstein, a prominent figure with a remarkable legacy in the Senate. Feinstein, the longest-serving female US senator in history, passed away at the age of 90 after a period of declining health.

A Tribute to Dianne Feinstein

Feinstein will be honored with a public viewing at San Francisco City Hall on Wednesday, followed by funeral services on Thursday. Pelosi, unable to retrieve her belongings due to her commitment to paying tribute to her late friend, expressed her disappointment at the timing of the office relocation request.

“With all of the important decisions that the new Republican Leadership must address, which we are all eagerly awaiting, one of the first actions taken by the new Speaker Pro Tempore was to order me to immediately vacate my office in the Capitol,” Pelosi stated.
