President Joe Biden to showcase clean energy investments during Monday visit to Colorado

Colorado’s Thriving Investments During the Biden Administration

Expanding Industries and Creating Job Opportunities

Colorado has seen a remarkable surge in investments during the Biden Administration, with companies announcing a total of $5 billion in investments across various industries. These investments range from clean energy to semiconductors and biomanufacturing, fueling economic growth and innovation in the state.

Boosting the Economy in Pueblo

One notable investment took place in Pueblo, where CS Wind made a substantial $250 million investment to expand its facility. This expansion was made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act and is expected to create approximately 850 new jobs in the area. CS Wind has previously hosted esteemed elected officials such as Gov. Jared Polis and Sen. Michael Bennet.

A Division in Political Support

While the Inflation Reduction Act received support from all of Colorado’s Democratic members of Congress, it faced opposition from Republican representatives such as Lauren Boebert, Ken Buck, and Doug Lamborn. Boebert, in particular, has been vocal about her opposition to the law, referring to it as a “massive failure” on her social media platform.

Biden’s Critique and Response

During a visit to New Mexico, President Biden criticized Boebert for her lack of support for the legislation, especially considering that it directly benefited her district. He pointed out that CS Wind, the company expanding in Pueblo, is located in Boebert’s district and emphasized that she and other Republicans voted against the bill. Biden’s remarks shed light on the significance of the legislation in enabling such investments.

Boebert’s Reaction and Concerns

Responding to Biden’s visit, Boebert took to social media and questioned whether he would address pressing issues such as high prices, engage with oil and gas workers, or address the impact of fentanyl on families. She suggested that if these matters were not his focus, he should stick to his strengths, such as relaxing on the beach and doing nothing.

Expanding Renewable Energy in Durango

Another project benefiting from the Inflation Reduction Act is Primergy’s 155 megawatt solar power and battery storage project in the southwest corner of the state, near Durango. This project highlights the positive impact of the legislation on renewable energy expansion and its potential for creating a more sustainable future.
