Audio Reveals Trump Contemplated Solving Jan. 6 ‘Problem’ Independently

Former President Donald Trump‘s Plan to Go to the Capitol on Jan. 6 Thwarted by Secret Service

Former President Donald Trump revealed in a recent interview that he had considered going to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, but was prevented from doing so by the Secret Service. In an audio aired by CNN, Trump mentioned that he wanted to intervene and stop the problem himself but was advised against it by the Secret Service. This statement contradicts his previous false claim that he had spoken to his largest crowd ever at the “Save America Rally.”

Attempts to Reach the Capitol and Clash with Secret Service Agents

There have been accounts of Trump’s alleged attempt to head to the Capitol, which apparently led to a physical altercation between him and Secret Service agents. Witnesses have claimed that Trump even tried to grab the wheel of his presidential limousine after the rally. One ex-White House aide, Cassidy Hutchinson, testified before the Jan. 6 committee and revealed that Trump had exclaimed, “I’m the f-ing president. Take me up to the Capitol now.” Hutchinson also mentioned Trump’s anger over the presence of Secret Service magnetometers at the rally site.

Trump’s Lack of Action and Focus on TV Coverage

Despite being in the White House at the time of the attack, Trump did not take immediate action to quell the violence for 187 minutes. Instead, he watched TV coverage of the insurrection following his speech. This lack of intervention has raised questions and criticism regarding his handling of the situation.

Trump’s Belief in the Election Conspiracy Theory

In the same interview, Trump suggested that he could have gone down to the Capitol and would have been well received by his supporters. He justified their actions by claiming that they believed the election was rigged. Trump’s belief in this conspiracy theory is evident, as he reportedly thought he would be “reinstated” as president in the months after his first term. This theory was dismissed by his former lawyer, Jenna Ellis.

Audio Recording and Revelations in Jonathan Karl’s Book

The audio aired by CNN was reportedly recorded just months after the Jan. 6 attack during an interview between Trump and ABC News’ Jonathan Karl. Karl recently released a book titled “Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party,” which includes criticisms of Trump from a former senior official. This official referred to Trump as a “traitor” and a “clear and present danger.”
