### Study Reveals Link Between Ultra-Processed Foods and Increased Risk of Death

A recent study has found that older individuals who reported consuming more ultra-processed foods were nearly 10% more likely to die after a median follow-up of 23 years compared to those who consumed less processed food. The study observed that highly processed meat and soft drinks were among the subgroups of ultra-processed foods most strongly associated with mortality risk.

The results were drawn from a substantial study that followed over 500,000 individuals in the United States for approximately thirty years. The study revealed that consuming more ultra-processed foods was linked to slight increases in deaths from heart disease and diabetes, as well as deaths from all causes.
