Davis has 19 as Central Michigan downs Old Dominion 58-57

Central Michigan University’s men’s basketball team secured a narrow victory over Old Dominion University on Saturday, with Jemal Davis leading the way with 19 points. The Chippewas held on to their lead in the final 4 1/2 minutes to clinch a 58-57 win.

Davis had a solid shooting performance, going 4 for 8 from the field but struggling from beyond the arc with 0 for 3. However, he made up for it at the free throw line, sinking 11 of 13 attempts. Derrick Butler also contributed 13 points for Central Michigan, shooting 5 for 13 overall and 2 for 7 from beyond the arc. Butler, along with Davis, also played a key role on the defensive end with nine rebounds and three steals. Aidan Rubio added 10 points to the team’s total, shooting 4 for 8 from the field and 2 for 5 from beyond the arc.

On the other side, Old Dominion’s Chaunce Jenkins led the team in scoring with 16 points. Tyrone Williams contributed 12 points and eight rebounds, while R.J. Blakney finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks.

With this victory, Central Michigan improves to a 14-10 overall record and an 8-3 record in the Mid-American Conference. The Chippewas have been performing well in conference play and will look to build on this win in their upcoming games.

Old Dominion, on the other hand, falls to a 6-19 overall record and a 2-11 record in the Sun Belt Conference. The Monarchs have struggled this season and will need to regroup in order to turn their fortunes around.
