Republicans and Big Pharma’s Opposition

Advocates claim that Republicans and big drug companies are attacking the Inflation Reduction Act in Congress and the courts. Pharmaceutical giants like Merck, Bristol Myers Squibb, Astellas Pharma, and Johnson & Johnson-owned Janssen Pharmaceuticals are focused on undermining the act by filing lawsuits to protect their profits. Congresswoman Scholten criticized her Republican colleagues for siding with Big Pharma and prioritizing profits over people.

Despite opposition, the Inflation Reduction Act is already providing savings on prescription drugs for Michiganders. Out-of-pocket costs for seniors will be capped at $2,000 per year, benefiting over 672,000 people in Michigan. Congresswoman Scholten pledges to continue working to keep costs low and expand these money-saving provisions.
