Let’s give Donald Trump the benefit of the doubt regarding the events of January 6th, 2021, at the Capitol. In this alternate reality, imagine that he genuinely believed the election was fraudulent. Let’s assume he truly meant it when he urged the crowd to march peacefully and patriotically from the White House to Capitol Hill. Believe for a moment that he was unaware of any weapons among his supporters or any intent for violence. Furthermore, let’s consider his subsequent claims that Nancy Pelosi somehow incited the violence and that the police actually facilitated the crowd’s entry, describing them as a loving and patriotic group. Trump even went as far as labeling them victims and hostages of a corrupt justice system.

Now, if we entertain all these notions and declarations, it begs the question – why would anyone then glorify the rioters as warriors, as Mr. Trump did recently during a rally?
