Fox Corp. Faces Shareholder Lawsuit over Election fraud Narrative

On September 12, Fox Corp., along with Rupert Murdoch and other defendants, found themselves at the receiving end of a shareholder derivative lawsuit filed in Delaware Court of Chancery. The complaint, not yet publicly available, is one among several cases initiated after Fox settled defamation claims from Dominion and Smartmatic regarding the 2020 presidential election.

Shareholders are alleging that Fox deliberately propagated the false narrative of Election fraud, despite being aware of its falsehood, all in the pursuit of maintaining the network’s ratings. The lawsuit has been filed by Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, Friedlander & Gorris, and the Oregon Department of Justice. The case is identified as 2023-0931- New York City Employees’ Retirement System et al. v. Murdoch et al.
