Manhunt Underway for Fugitive Accused of Murder Who Escaped from Hospital

A massive manhunt is currently underway in Sacramento, California, as authorities search for Eric Abril, a murder suspect who managed to escape from the Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Abril, 35, was apprehended in April for the shooting of a California Highway Patrol officer and two hostages, resulting in the death of one hostage. The incident took place in Roseville, a city located just northeast of Sacramento.

Unexpected Hospital Escape

The circumstances surrounding Abril’s escape remain unclear. He was transported to the medical center in an ambulance, though details on why he was there have not been released. Surveillance footage captured Abril in a city north of Roseville at approximately 3:39 a.m. on Sunday, shortly after his escape from the hospital.

Public Urged to Exercise Caution

Law enforcement has issued a public safety advisory, urging residents in the area to exercise extreme caution. Authorities have described Abril as a white male, standing at six feet tall, with brown hair. He weighs around 175 pounds and possesses a tattoo on his left shoulder. In the video footage captured on Sunday, Abril can be seen without a shirt and wearing orange pants.

If anyone spots Abril or has any information that can aid the ongoing manhunt, they are urged to immediately contact 911.

Charges against Abril

Abril faces multiple charges in connection with the Roseville park shooting. These charges include murder, aggravated kidnapping, and attempted murder of a peace officer. Following his initial arrest, Abril was booked into the Placer County jail with no possibility of bail.
