“Presumed human remains” have been discovered in the area of the doomed Titan submersible debris field, according to the US Coast Guard. The remains were recovered from the seafloor and found within the wreckage of the submersible.

Recovery Efforts and Analysis

The US Coast Guard stated that the recovered remains will be analyzed by medical professionals. This comes after authorities confirmed the implosion of the Titanic-bound vessel, resulting in the tragic loss of all five men on board. The recovery operation continues as large pieces of the submersible are hoisted onto a Canadian pier.

Huge Pieces of the Submersible Retrieved

Photos taken during the recovery operation show the retrieval of significant sections of the submersible. These include a white panel-like piece and another similarly sized part with cords and wires draped with a white tarp. The nature and purpose of these pieces are yet to be determined.

Unique Characteristics of the Submersible

The Titan submersible, operated by OceanGate, was made of carbon fiber and titanium. It had a weight of 23,000 pounds and could accommodate only five adults. The vessel was designed to allow extreme tourists to get close to the century-old wreckage of the Titanic for a fee of $250,000 per person.

Pelagic Research Services, the company responsible for bringing the remains to the surface, has declared the successful completion of the offshore work. Pelagic Research Services has deferred questions regarding the investigation into the incident to the US Coast Guard. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada declined to comment on the investigation, stating that more information will be provided as warranted. The search for answers continues as authorities work to determine the cause of the submersible’s demise.

Debris Found Near Titanic Wreckage

The tail cone and other debris from the submersible were discovered approximately 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic. The Titan submersible was en route to visit the iconic shipwreck when the tragic incident occurred at a depth of 13,000 feet in the North Atlantic Ocean.
