Pope Francis Leads Easter Sunday Mass

On Easter Sunday, Pope Francis presided over Mass in St. Peter’s Square to commemorate the Resurrection of the Lord, with a multitude of the faithful in attendance to partake in the celebration.

After delivering his Easter homily during the Easter Vigil Mass the previous night, Pope Francis refrained from giving another homily at the daytime Easter Sunday Mass. The Papal Blessing

Post the Easter Sunday Mass, the Pope proceeded to offer the noon-day Urbi et Orbi from the central loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica, extending his Apostolic blessing to the residents of Rome and the global populace.

Prior to his noon-day address, Pope Francis joyfully interacted with the jubilant pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square and along Via della Conciliazione, waving to them from his popemobile.

The Easter Mass on Sunday morning marked the culmination of the Easter Triduum, with the festivities extending through the evening Vespers. The liturgical season of Easter will persist until the Solemnity of Pentecost in May.
