According to ABC News, Mr. Cipollone has received a subpoena from the District of Columbia-based grand jury. His legal team is anticipated to negotiate his appearance while considering potential claims of executive privilege.
Testimony Before House January 6 Committee
Recently, Mr. Cipollone provided testimony before the House January 6 select committee after his legal representatives engaged in discussions with committee members. An agreement was reached that allowed Mr. Cipollone to refrain from answering inquiries regarding conversations with Mr. Trump.
Examination of Top Aides and Officials
The grand jury examining Mr. Trump’s election interference has also interviewed two key aides of former Vice President Mike Pence. Greg Jacob, former Pence attorney, and Marc Short, ex-chief of staff to Mr. Pence, have both disclosed to the House select committee that they deemed Mr. Trump’s scheme, which involved Mr. Pence invalidating electoral votes in his and Mr. Trump’s favor, as unlawful.
