Arrest of Southern Maine Man for Capitol Storming

A man from Southern Maine, Lincoln Deming, 44, was apprehended on Saturday for his involvement in the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Charges Filed Against Lincoln Deming

Deming faces several charges according to a criminal complaint filed in Washington D.C. These include civil disorder, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, entering and remaining in the Gallery of Congress, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, and parading, picketing, or demonstrating in a Capitol building. The primary charge of civil disorder is considered a felony, while the rest are misdemeanors.

Actions Alleged Against Lincoln Deming

It is alleged that Deming pulled on police barricades outside the Capitol, threw objects towards law enforcement officers, gained entry to the Capitol building, and spent 33 minutes inside trying locked doors and entering the Senate gallery, as per court documents referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice.

National Scope of Capitol Breach Cases

The Department of Justice reports that over 1,424 individuals from nearly every state in the U.S. have been charged in connection to the Capitol breach. Of these, more than 500 individuals have been charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement, a felony offense.
