Storm Alert

A storm is expected to cross the Ozarks tonight, passing very close to I-44. As the storm moves away, cold air on the backside will bring snowfall into the region on Tuesday. Temperatures will hover in the mid-30s tonight and begin to fall on Tuesday afternoon due to strong northwest winds. Accumulations of snow should be an inch or less in most areas, with the potential for up to four inches in the far northern counties. Wind gusts on Tuesday could reach 30-40 mph.

Upcoming Weather Outlook

Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be pleasant days, with high temperatures jumping back to the mid-40s on Wednesday and approaching 50 degrees on Thursday. However, another storm is forecasted to arrive on Friday, similar to the current event. Rainfall will occur initially, followed by a changeover to snow as cold air moves in. Significantly colder air will follow this storm, potentially leading to flash freezing on roadways. Stay alert for any hazardous conditions.

Cold Weekend Ahead

Saturday will bring a break from the storm activity, but it will be very cold with highs in the 20s. Wind chills are likely to remain in the teens throughout the day. On Sunday and Monday, even colder air will arrive, prompting First Alerts for these days. There is also the possibility of a third round of light snow, which may quickly turn into ice as cars drive over it. Travel could be extremely hazardous if this scenario unfolds as predicted. High temperatures on Sunday could reach around 20 degrees and stay in the teens on Monday.
