Join IDEM’s Community Meetings on CPRG Program

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) invites you to participate in two additional meetings focused on the best utilization of funds provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Program.

These meetings will allow you to share your ideas and innovative solutions, shaping the proposal that IDEM will submit to the EPA. Your feedback is crucial in promoting sustainability, enhancing Indiana’s resilience to environmental challenges, and safeguarding the state’s natural resources.

About the CPRG Program

The CPRG program is designed to allocate federal funding to state governments, municipalities, tribes, and territories. The aim is to develop strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollutants. IDEM has received an initial planning grant of $3 million to conduct a greenhouse gas emissions inventory and create a Priority Climate Action Plan by March 2024. A Comprehensive Climate Action Plan is due in July 2025.

Meeting Schedule

The following meetings have been scheduled:

  • Thursday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. CT – Gary, IN

    Join us at the community room of the Gary Public Library & Cultural Center, located at 220 W. 5th Ave, Gary, IN 46402. The venue is accessible by Gary Bus Route R1: Lakeshore Connection; Route L1: West Central via Grant; and R-Bmx: Broadway Metro Express.

  • Thursday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. CT – Evansville, IN

    Participate in the meeting room at the Oaklyn Branch of the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library, situated at 3001 Oaklyn Drive, Evansville, IN 47711. The venue is accessible by Evansville Bus Route #10 – Lynch.

About the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG)

The Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program provides $5 billion in grants to states, local governments, tribes, and territories. The aim is to develop and implement ambitious plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution. This program consists of two phases: noncompetitive planning grants ($250 million) and competitive implementation grants (approximately $4.6 billion).
