Supreme Court Justice Alito Declines Recusal Despite Concerns
Amid calls for recusal, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has made it clear that he will not step back from cases involving the 2020 presidential election and the January 6 Capitol riot. This decision comes despite the controversy surrounding two flags linked to far-right causes that have been seen flying over his properties.
In response to pressure from Democrats for his disqualification, Justice Alito addressed the issue in two separate letters, stating that his wife, Martha-Ann Alito, was the individual responsible for hoisting the controversial flags.
Asserting his wife’s autonomy in making decisions, the Justice emphasized, “My wife is an independently-minded private citizen, and I respect her right to make her own choices.”
