Arizona Coyotes Relocating to Utah

Team Relocation Announcement

Reports indicate that Arizona Coyotes players have been informed about the team’s upcoming move to Utah. Sources confirm that the NHL has facilitated a sale to Ryan and Ashley Smith, owners of the Utah Jazz, with the Coyotes set to begin playing there next season.

Team Visit to Salt Lake City

After the conclusion of the NHL regular season, Coyotes players and staff members will be invited to visit Salt Lake City to explore the city and the facilities available.

New Home Venue

The plan is for the team to play at the Delta Center, owned by the Smiths and also home to the NBA’s Jazz. However, sources indicate that the NHL has stressed the need for a hockey-specific upgrade at the Delta Center to be the team’s permanent home.

Government Support and Future Plans

Smith already has government backing, with a bill passed in the Utah State Senate to fund a renovated entertainment district downtown for an NHL franchise. Despite Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo’s efforts to secure a permanent home in Phoenix, the NHL has decided on the relocation for the upcoming season.

Potential Return to Arizona

While the Coyotes are moving to Utah, the NHL remains open to returning to Arizona in the future, leaving the opportunity for Meruelo to own the team.
