DeWitt man sentenced to 90 days in prison for involvement in Jan. 6 Capitol attack

The Sentencing of a DeWitt Man for Capitol Insurrection

Albert Ciarpelli, a DeWitt resident, has been sentenced to 90 days in prison by a federal judge for his involvement in the 2021 U.S. Capitol insurrection. Ciarpelli, 68, admitted to entering the Capitol during the violent events that unfolded that day. His plea came in November as part of an agreement with federal prosecutors, where he confessed to knowingly entering and remaining in a restricted building without authorization.

Initially, Ciarpelli faced charges of violent entry and disorderly conduct in addition to the charge of entering a restricted building without authority. However, the former two charges were later dismissed.

According to a news report, Ciarpelli referred to his time inside the Capitol as a “little adventure.”
