Dr. Mathew Schaffer, the director of psychological services at the university, is determined to focus on the essential components of high-quality, evidence-based threat assessment and risk assessment.

Threat assessment, as Dr. Schaffer explains, revolves around evaluating the current dangerousness of an individual to commit acts of violence, often targeted at specific individuals or groups. On the other hand, risk assessment is based on the individual’s history and helps determine the level of risk they pose to the public.
