Murray, at the age of 30, has always been a remarkable golfer, showcasing his talent from a young age. His impressive golfing journey began with winning three consecutive Callaway Junior World Championships from 2006-08. As the top-ranked golfer in his age group, he made his mark early on by making his first cut on the Korn Ferry Tour when he was just 16, making him the second-youngest player to achieve this feat.
From College to Professional Golfing Career
After attending Wake Forest University, East Carolina University, and Arizona State University, Murray’s breakthrough came in 2016. He was granted a sponsor’s exemption to participate in a Korn Ferry Tour event close to his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. His exceptional performance at the Rex Hospital Open secured him a top 10 finish, leading to another opportunity. Subsequently, with another top 10 finish at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, Murray’s professional golfing career skyrocketed.
Rising to Success on the PGA TOUR
Murray’s remarkable season culminated in a victory at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, securing his position as the second-ranked player on the Korn Ferry Tour money list. This achievement granted him full status on the PGA TOUR for the 2016-17 season, just a week before his 23rd birthday.
