Attempted Attack at Lakewood Church

A shocking incident took place at Pastor Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston on Sunday afternoon. A woman, dressed in a trench coat and carrying a long rifle, entered the church accompanied by a young child. The situation quickly escalated as the woman began firing shots.

Heroic Intervention

Thankfully, two off-duty law enforcement officers were present at the scene. A Houston police officer and an agent with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission immediately took action. They engaged with the armed woman and managed to strike her, resulting in her death. Their swift response prevented a potentially catastrophic outcome.

Tragic Consequences

Regrettably, amidst the chaos, a 5-year-old child was also injured and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital. The exact circumstances of the child’s relation to the shooter and who fired the shot that struck them remain unclear.

Unintended Victim

Additionally, a 57-year-old man who happened to be in the vicinity suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Authorities believe that he was not connected to the incident. Fortunately, he is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.

Recognition and Investigation

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner commended the bravery of the two officers involved in the incident. He acknowledged the potential for even greater harm considering the woman’s possession of a long gun. As a result, both law enforcement officers will be placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted.

While the motive behind the attack remains unknown, the authorities are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring the safety of the community.
