Is Doing 100 Press-Ups Every Day for a Month Crazy?

### Cancer Research Challenge: 100 Press-Ups a Day

My triceps are burning, my shoulders tensed, my body as straight as I can manage as I lower myself to the floor, before pushing back, puce, to complete a press-up that is “really not bad”, according to the personal trainer Zana Morris, who is critiquing my technique over Zoom. “There’s a tiny bit of movement in your back, and you might want your arms slightly lower down, along the shoulder line. But you can do a press-up.”

Phew. Only another 99 to go … at least if I’m planning to take part in next month’s Cancer Research challenge, for which the charity is asking fundraisers to complete 100 press-ups a day throughout April, an undertaking it describes as “tough but doable”.

### Tough Challenge Ahead

Press-ups have been used for decades as a measure of upper body strength, endurance, and overall fitness. The Cancer Research challenge aims to not only raise funds for cancer research but also promote physical activity and health awareness.

### Benefits of Press-Ups

Press-ups, also known as push-ups, are a simple and effective exercise that targets multiple muscle groups, including the chest, shoulders, triceps, and core. They can help improve strength, muscle tone, and overall fitness levels.

### Importance of Proper Technique

Proper technique is crucial when performing press-ups to avoid injury and maximize the benefits of the exercise. Personal trainers like Zana Morris emphasize the importance of maintaining a straight body line, engaging the core muscles, and positioning the hands at shoulder width for optimal results.

### Join the Challenge

Whether you are a fitness enthusiast looking to push your limits or someone new to exercise wanting to improve your strength, the Cancer Research challenge provides an opportunity to set a goal, stay motivated, and make a positive impact in the fight against cancer.
