Vice President Kamala Harris is set to visit the Emerald City this upcoming Saturday.

Official Visit Details

Newly appointed Seattle Police Department Chief Sue Rahr confirmed to KOMO News that Harris would make an official visit to Seattle this Saturday.

According to the White House, Harris is expected to land at King County International Airport around 3:30 p.m. and depart later that evening at approximately 7:05 p.m.

Reason for Visit

The White House announced that Harris will be in town for a “political event,” which will be covered by an editorial pool. Further details about the event are currently undisclosed.

This visit by the vice president coincides with the recent conviction of former president Donald Trump on 34 felony charges.

Past Visits

Last August, Harris visited Seattle to discuss the Biden administration’s efforts to combat inflation and the climate crisis. The visit preceded the one-year anniversary of the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act.

During her last visit, Harris emphasized the urgent need to address the climate crisis and create a clean energy economy that generates high-paying jobs.

Legislation Impact

Harris highlighted the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act, signed into law by President Joe Biden, in boosting clean energy employment and offering tax benefits to buyers of electric vehicles.

President Biden’s Previous Visit

Harris’s visit follows President Biden’s visit to Washington state a few weeks back for campaign receptions.

During Biden’s visit, there were delays at SEA and road closures around the Puget Sound region. The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) anticipated significant travel disruptions during the presidential visit.

When Biden visited Seattle in April 2022 for Earth Day, he visited Green River College in Auburn.
