Driver’s Attempt to Breach FBI Atlanta Gate

A man was detained after attempting to follow an FBI employee into the Atlanta field office and crashing his vehicle against the gate.

CHAMBLEE, Ga. – A man was arrested at the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in Chamblee after ramming a car into their security gate just after noon, according to the FBI.

He tried to follow an authorized vehicle through the gate but was apprehended by two agents leaving the office at the time.

The man, not yet identified, was taken into custody by DeKalb County police. FBI Assistant Special Agent in charge Pete Ellis clarified that the man had no affiliation with the facility.

FBI Atlanta Gate Crash Incident

Pete Ellis, the FBI assistant special agent in charge, spoke to FOX 5 Atlanta about the incident involving a man trying to breach the FBI Atlanta front gate on April 1, 2024.

SKYFOX 5 footage captured the scene around 2 p.m., showing the wrecked vehicle still at the location.

Later, at around 4 p.m., the car was finally towed away from the FBI office in Atlanta.

FOX 5 Atlanta is actively investigating the incident, with officials confirming no injuries were reported. Agents and bomb technicians conducted a thorough inspection of the man’s vehicle as part of standard procedure. The FBI hinted at potential state and federal charges but did not disclose a motive for the man’s actions.

Driver Taken to Hospital After FBI Atlanta Gate Incident

The FBI confirmed that the man involved in the gate crash incident was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for a mental evaluation.
