Cheney Criticizes Trump’s Stance on January 6 Rioters

Former Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) has once again spoken out against GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. Cheney condemns Trump’s promise to pardon the January 6 rioters he refers to as “hostages.”

According to Cheney, over 90% of the rioters in jail are there for assaulting police officers, making it concerning to consider their release.

Trump has indicated that he would likely pardon a significant number of the rioters, claiming they are wrongly imprisoned.

Cheney references the Just Security website, which details the identities and charges against the January 6 inmates in D.C. jails, including their photos from that day near the Capitol.

Of the rioters, 27 have been charged with assaulting law enforcement officers, with 19 already convicted or having pleaded guilty. Only 2 face charges unrelated to assaulting officers.
