New York Police Department Clears Encampments at NYU and New School
The New York Police Department commenced clearing encampments at New York University and the New School on Friday morning. Over 50 demonstrators were taken into custody as pro-Palestinian protests escalated on the campuses.
Arrests Rise Across Country
Pro-Palestinian protests sparked police actions leading to arrests at various universities. At the State University of New York at New Paltz, over 130 people were arrested. Additionally, 17 individuals were taken into custody at the University of Notre Dame late Thursday night. In Oregon, law enforcement officers cleared a library at Portland State University for the second time, resulting in at least 30 arrests.
