The Arrest of a Northridge Woman in Connection with U.S. Capitol Breach
A Northridge woman, Kayla Reifschneider, was taken into custody on March 6th for federal felony and misdemeanor charges linked to her actions during the breach of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Criminal Complaint Details
Reifschneider faces a felony charge of obstructing an official proceeding and multiple misdemeanor charges, including entering a restricted building, disorderly conduct, and acts of physical violence, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Allegations Against Reifschneider
The DOJ claims Reifschneider was part of the Patriots 45 online group, supporting ex-President Donald Trump and disputing election results, and traveled to D.C. before the riot.
Incident at the U.S. Capitol
Video footage allegedly shows Reifschneider yelling at police on the Upper West Terrace and later engaging in disruptive behavior towards the media at the east side of the Capitol.
Disruption of Congress Session
Reifschneider’s actions, along with others, caused a disruption during the joint session of Congress to verify the 2020 presidential election results, as per DOJ prosecutors.
Legal Proceedings
Reifschneider is among over 1,350 individuals nationwide facing charges related to the Capitol breach, with more than 480 defendants accused of assaulting or obstructing law enforcement.
