Monkeys Attack Woman on Roof: Sirsi Area in Sambhal District

A 35-year-old woman in Sirsi area of Sambhal district was seriously injured when she was attacked by a troop of monkeys while on the roof of her house. This incident follows another attack in the same area where a 6-year-old girl lost her life due to monkey menace on December 11.

Attack:

On a Sunday afternoon, Yusufi Hussain and her 8-year-old daughter Sunawwar were sitting on the roof when they were attacked by monkeys. While Sunawwar managed to escape, Yusufi was mauled by the monkeys. Her husband Saleem rushed to the scene and rescued her, but not before she sustained multiple monkey bites and her head got stuck against the floor.

Demands for Action:

The residents of Sirsi town are demanding immediate action to capture the monkeys as they continue to attack people and cause damage to household items and crops. However, the responsibility for capturing the monkeys lies with the municipal corporation or the forest department, leaving the residents with limited options for resolving the issue, according to a senior cop.

Previous Incidents:

This is not the first time such incidents have occurred. On December 9, a 40-year-old woman in Roza area of Shahjahanpur was attacked by monkeys while eating lunch on her terrace. She fell off the roof in an attempt to escape. Earlier this year, a 50-year-old farmer from a Pilibhit village jumped off the first floor to evade a troop of monkeys and later succumbed to his injuries. In another incident, a 26-year-old man was electrocuted when he climbed onto the roof of a stationary train to retrieve a slipper taken away by a monkey.
