Volkswagen ID.4 Electric Vehicle Sees Surge in Sales

Great news for Volkswagen’s Chattanooga-built ID.4 electric vehicle! Recent figures reveal that it experienced an impressive 84.2% increase in sales in 2023.

Optimism for federal tax credit Qualification

However, despite its success, the ID.4 EV is currently absent from the latest list of vehicles eligible for a federal tax credit. Volkswagen of America spokesperson, Mark Gillies, has confirmed that the company has submitted all the necessary paperwork for the tax credit.

Gillies expressed cautious optimism, stating that the company believes the ID.4 will once again qualify for the tax credit.

Prominent Position in the EV Market

Last year, the ID.4 was among the vehicles eligible for a $7,500 credit, applicable to models placed in service in 2023. Volkswagen was the sole international automaker to have a full-battery electric vehicle that qualified for the complete credit. This was primarily due to the assembly and sourcing of the ID.4 in the North American region.
