Massachusetts Woman Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Law Enforcement at U.S. Capitol

Traveling from Massachusetts to Washington, D.C., Jacquelyn Starer participated in the “Stop the Steal” rally on January 6, 2021, coinciding with the U.S. Congress session on the 2020 presidential election’s electoral votes.

Charges Against Jacquelyn Starer

Jacquelyn Starer pleaded guilty to eight offenses, including two felony counts of civil disorder and assaulting officers, along with six misdemeanors related to her actions at the U.S. Capitol.

Incident Details

Following the rally, Starer entered the Capitol building through the East Rotunda around 2:50 p.m. and proceeded towards the Rotunda, where officers were safeguarding the west entrance, attempting to thwart rioters near Nancy Pelosi’s office.

At approximately 3 p.m., Starer advanced past the crowd towards the police line, engaging with fellow rioters before physically confronting an officer, leading to her eventual arrest based on photographic evidence.

Legal Consequences

In the aftermath of the Capitol riot, nearly 1,400 individuals have faced charges nationwide, with over 500 individuals accused of felony offenses.
