Heading into championship weekend, college football experts have projected the bowl destinations for various area schools, including Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, SMU, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. However, Baylor (3-9) and TCU (5-7) will not be participating in bowl games this year. The official bowl announcements will be made on Sunday, Dec. 3, with the CFP selection show starting at 11 a.m. on ESPN.
SMU has several potential matchups in different bowls. According to Kyle Bonagura of ESPN, they could face Miami in the Military Bowl on Dec. 27 in Annapolis, Maryland. Mark Schlabach, also from ESPN, predicts a matchup against Boston College in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl on Dec. 28 in Boston. Jerry Palm of CBS Sports projects SMU to face West Virginia in the Liberty Bowl on Dec. 29 in Memphis, Tennessee. The Armed Forces Bowl will take place on Dec. 23 in Fort Worth, and the projected matchups include Kansas vs. Syracuse, Kansas vs. Wyoming, Iowa State vs. Louisiana, Texas Tech vs. Marshall, UTSA vs. James Madison, or Wyoming vs. Old Dominion.
