A large bipartisan majority of voters express support for extending the IRA’s drug provisions to cover all adults with private insurance. This includes measures like capping monthly insulin costs and limiting out-of-pocket expenses for prescription drugs.

While there is public support for Biden’s proposals, most voters remain skeptical about the potential impact of either candidate on drug pricing. Independent voters slightly favor Biden’s ability to lower prescription drug costs if elected.

Trust in Candidates

When it comes to addressing high healthcare costs, neither Biden nor Trump have a clear advantage in public trust. The survey indicates a close split between the two candidates in terms of voter confidence in tackling healthcare expenses.

The survey was conducted from April 23 to May 1 and involved a nationally representative sample of 1,479 U.S. adults. The margin of error for the full sample is plus or minus 3 percentage points, and for registered voters, it is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
