Selection Sunday Announces Top Seeds for Men’s 2024 NCAA Basketball Tournament

Selection Sunday and Tournament Schedule

The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament is gearing up with the top four seeds being the Connecticut Huskies, Purdue Boilermakers, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Houston Cougars.

The event starts with the play-in games, the First Four, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the full tournament kicking off on Thursday and Friday.

Selection Sunday will confirm the final lineup of teams for March Madness. Fans can catch the selection show on ESPN at 8 p.m ET for the women’s tournament. TV times and broadcasters for the men’s tournament games will be announced soon.

Team Selection Process

Thirty-two teams from both the men’s and women’s tournaments earned automatic qualification by winning their conference tournaments. A selection committee then filled the remaining spots with 36 at-large bids.

Teams ranked between No. 64 and No. 68 will battle it out in the First Four play-in tournament to secure a spot among the final 64 teams.

March Madness Tradition

Selection Sunday marks the end of weeks of speculation for college basketball fans eager to predict the tournament lineup. Fans, including celebrities like former US Presidents Barack Obama and George H.W. Bush, participate in the bracket predictions.

After Selection Sunday, there are only two days for fans to fill out their brackets before the tournament begins:
