Anderson Cooper Interviews Nancy Pelosi on Trump’s Blame for Capitol Attack

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was interviewed by CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Monday night. The interview centered around Trump’s recent attempt to blame Pelosi for the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol, mistakenly referring to her as “Nikki Haley.”

Cooper introduced a clip of Trump’s gaffe, where he mentioned “Nikki Haley” four times while making false claims about the attack. Cooper asked Pelosi for her reaction to this incident.

Pelosi responded by pointing out that Trump’s statements were not based on facts and accused him of projecting his own guilt onto others. She highlighted how Trump refused to send the National Guard for hours during the attack and now attempts to shift blame onto others.

Cooper countered Trump’s claim that Pelosi turned down help from him that day by mentioning a widely debunked claim. He referenced a video in which Pelosi was seen trying to get the National Guard or military to send troops to the Capitol.

Pelosi clarified that it wasn’t just her, but also Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell who pleaded for the National Guard’s assistance. She criticized Trump for his failure to take responsibility and for constantly projecting his own failures onto others.

Pelosi further highlighted the limitations of the District of Columbia’s authority in calling up the National Guard and criticized Trump’s lack of knowledge about the situation. She also pointed out the double standards that Democrats face compared to Republicans.
