Woman from Los Angeles County Arrested for Involvement in Jan. 6 Capitol Riot

A Northridge woman, Kayla Reifschneider, was taken into custody for her involvement in the January 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection, as per the Department of Justice.

Reifschneider, 27, is confronting a range of felony and misdemeanor charges detailed in an arrest warrant. The charges include damaging property, making threats to journalists, and applauding assaults on law enforcement officers.

Reifschneider was mentioned in a criminal complaint for a felony charge of obstructing an official proceeding and multiple misdemeanor charges for entering restricted areas, engaging in disorderly conduct, and committing acts of physical violence on Capitol grounds.

She was part of the Telegram group PATRIOTS45 MAGA Gang, which orchestrated a journey to D.C. to rally in support of then-President Donald Trump and contest the election outcome. Reifschneider even discussed providing a fellow protester with a stun gun and pepper spray prior to the riot.

Video evidence displayed Reifschneider shouting obscenities at law enforcement on the Upper West Terrace before joining a crowd of rioters. She then directed her aggression towards journalists, forcing them to flee and abandon their equipment.

The complaint highlighted Reifschneider’s disruptive actions during a joint session of Congress aimed at certifying the 2020 presidential election results. Over 1,358 individuals have been charged in connection with the Capitol breach since the incident, with 486 defendants accused of assaulting or obstructing law enforcement.
